Sue Malone

Sue is the number one provider, SBA Export Express and SBA SLA v.2 and director of marketing for Superior Financial Group.  Sue’s involvement began with the program’s inception in 2002. Since then, Sue has helped fund over 41,000 SBA loans, which include Patriot Express loans, Export Express, Community Express and now Small Lender Advantage v.2 and became the largest SBA lender by volume.  Her goal is to fund 100,000 small businesses.

She travels the nation meeting, promoting and funding small business owners especially minority, women and veteran owned businesses.  She is fueled by her passion to help small business owners pursue their dreams. Sue has received numerous awards for her contribution to the success of small businesses around the nation. She has been the number one lender to minority owned business by volume under SBA.

Sue sits on several national boards focused on veterans and entrepreneurship.  Including, the President of the nonprofit, American Economic Empowerment.  And co-founder of Women’s Military Exchange: Operation Next Step.  In addition, Sue is one of the founders of and, both focusing on giving veterans an opportunity for entrepreneurship and job seeking.

In addition, she has authored several of the government loan programs which are used across the nation. Along with private equity and private investment programs for America’s small businesses.

Sue is the President and CEO of the on-line company which helps contractors across the nation with easy and cost efficient lien forms.  NLL arose from the contractors who were funded and needed extra services to continue their success.  Along with a risk management program so they can make sure they are paid for their services.

Sue’s Background

For over ten years, Sue served as the CFO and Vice President of a commercial and industrial real estate firm in Northern California.  In addition, Sue was the first woman-parking operator in the United States.  Sue is a serial entrepreneur and has started over seven businesses.   She holds an MBA from St. Mary’s College. In addition, she makes sure small businesses voices are not forgotten in Washington DC, after all, America is great because of small businesses!

Chris Heivly

Chris Heivly, the SVP of Ecosystems at Techstars, is one of the nation’s leading experts on launching startups and has been dubbed the “Startup Whisperer.” He co-founded MapQuest, is an angel investor, ran a corporate venture fund and 2 micro venture funds (directed over $75M) and is SVP Innovation with Techstars. Chris published his first book about starting anything called Build The Fort and is currently writing a book on Startup Community Building.

Karen LeVert

Karen LeVert is currently a Venture Partner with Pappas Capital. She has a long history of further developing early stage technologies from university research labs and launching them into the commercial marketplace. These commercialization efforts led to spin-off companies in optoelectronics, medical devices, and agriculture via Southeast TechInventures, Inc. (STI) and Ag TechInventures, LLC (AgTI) – innovation labs she co-founded. Ms. LeVert’s business experience encompasses both corporate and entrepreneurial worlds with over twenty-five years of successful leadership experience in executive management, start-ups, and technology commercialization. Karen started her career at a Fortune-500 insurance company holding positions of increasing responsibility from computer programmer, to controller, to general manager of a 500-person Property & Casualty service center. Before founding the innovation labs, her first entrepreneurial venture was launching a franchise bioremediation company that she later sold. Her next entrepreneurial venture was co-founding a Silicon Valley based software company.

Ms. LeVert earned an MBA from the University of Dayton and an Information Technology undergraduate degree from Eastern Michigan University (while receiving All-Academic honors captaining her Division I basketball team).

Along with her professional duties she serves as a Board member for several entities: North Carolina Biotechnology Center; Economic Development Partnership of North Carolina; North Carolina School of Science and Math; NC IDEA Foundation; and LCBA Life Insurance Company.
